Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to leave Manchester United this summer and his agent, Jorge Mendes, has been working to find a new club for his star client.

On Wednesday, COPE reported Mendes offered the 37-year-old to Atlético Madrid at the start of this month and informed them his client is ready to join them on a modest salary.

This report came a day after AS stated the temptation to sign the Manchester United forward has shaken the La Liga side’s plans.

Los Rojiblancos president Enrique Cerezo spoke to reporters when he arrived at the José María de Segovia restaurant yesterday, and was directly asked whether Atlético can sign the Red Devils player.

Responding to that, relayed by AS, he said: “You have to ask me more difficult questions. For easy questions, simple answers. It is taken for granted.”

When asked whether it means Ronaldo will not arrive at club, Cerezo explained: “That’s what you said. We are here for dinner, an early season dinner, with a wonderful squad, sensational players and a fantastic manager. We have everything, what more can we ask for?”

Meanwhile, the possibility of the Manchester United star joining the Spanish club is not a topic of discussion among Diego Simeone’s men. This was revealed by Marcos Llorente during an interview with Cadena Ser’s El Larguero.

“Not at all. They talk about so many names that don’t end up coming that it’s no use talking. If he comes, there will be time to talk. I, at least, try to pass the subject because there is too much talk,” Llorente explained.

“A lot of things have happened with high-level players and then it went up in smoke. Until there is something official, we cannot comment on anything. At least I don’t. You’ll know him and you know everything he has achieved (laughs). It is more the coaching staff and the club that should decide.”

Ángel Correa has echoed comments made by the Spain international regarding Ronaldo.

“We don’t talk about that issue in the locker room. Those who are in my team are the best,” Correa told El Partidazo de COPE.

“It is not my decision. We are five up front and in the end two play. I am very happy for my teammates and I have to compete with them. We need everyone to be well to be able to compete.”
