One year ago, Swansea City were one of the clubs who were said to be interested in signing Almeria defender Mathieu Peybernes.

It was Marca who reported the interest at the time, with their story claiming that the Championship side had put an offer on the table for the transfer.

Well, Peybernes ended up staying at Almeria, but as he now looks closer to the exit door at the Spanish side, it’s once again claimed that Swansea City are one of the clubs who want him.

It’s Marca who comes up with the claims again. They say Huesca and the Liberty Stadium side are interested in the 30-year-old, who’s trying to rescind his contract with Almeria.

Those clubs now join Real Zaragoza in the race.

Peybernes is said to be studying all the options, although it’s really Real Zaragoza who are currently his priority, besides being the club who already made an offer for him.

So it looks like Swansea City never lost sight of the defender, but now that they have the opportunity to finally sign him, there’s also the need of a convincing bid to beat the Spanish competition.
