Over the past few days, there have been a few rumours that Sunderland AFC are interested in András Németh, currently contracted to KRC Genk.
The striker’s contract with the Belgian side expires in the summer, meaning he is now free to talk to other clubs about a free transfers.
Sunderland are reportedly one of the interested sides, and while there might have been murmurs that a move could take place in January, that won’t be the case.
This is according to Het Nieuwsblad, who state that Németh is in ‘exactly the same situation’ as his teammate Mika Godts.
Genk, however, aren’t interested in that, as they ‘do not want to talk about an immediate transfer’, wanting him to feature for their second team, Jong Genk.
Németh, said to be a target for Sunderland, is in a similar boat, and it’s added that the Hungary international ‘could also be of great value’ to the reserves side in the second half of the season.
Therefore, if the Black Cats do want the 20-year-old, they will have to wait until the summer.
