Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci has been linked with a move to Cagliari in the past week, as the 27-year-old eyes a return to Serie A.

Bellusci spent last season on loan with Empoli and it’s been suggested by La Nuova Sardegna, via Calcio Casteddu, he could get a move to Cagliari with Bartosz Salamon going in the opposite direction to Leeds United.

In recent days Calcio Casteddu quizzed Bellusci’s agent about a return to Italy this summer, and they’ve now reported Salamon could be used as bait by the Serie A side to land the Leeds United outcast.

The Poland international looks surplus to requirements with the Sardinian club, and they may look to sell him before the transfer deadline. With Cagliari linked with Bellusci it could make sense for Leeds United to consider an exchange to bring Salamon to Elland Road.

Leeds United have been busy in the transfer market and brought in Salamon’s compatriot Mateusz Klich a week ago. The Championship club are also reported to be working on other deals, including signing Werder Bremen goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald.
