Victor Orta’s departure from Leeds United could come back to haunt them quickly, with the suggestion he may now move to take Ilias Akhomach to Sevilla.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the youngster is unlikely to end up at Leeds after Orta’s departure and could go to Sevilla instead.

Akhomach had been on the verge of joining Leeds on a free transfer from Barcelona after months of speculation about his future and numerous sides in Europe all trying to secure his signature.

The Whites had seemingly won the race thanks to Orta’s efforts, with the Spaniard convincing the youngster that Elland Road was his best possible destination.

However, his departure yesterday has now ended that possibility, with a report not long after that was announced making it clear the whole transfer had collapsed.

That was followed by claims that Orta could end up at Sevilla as a replacement for Monchi, with the Spanish side his ‘most viable option’ following his departure from Leeds.

Estadio now pick up on that and say that one of his first moves could be to take Ilias Akhomach to the club, with them having already shown interest in him.

They say he ‘sounded strong’ as a possible reinforcement for the Spanish side earlier this year as he’s available on a free but Orta’s interference led to him being close to Leeds.

They had been in pole position for the player thanks to him but his departure from Elland Road means he is back on the market and if Orta were to arrive at Sevilla, as has been suggested, it would make sense for one of his first calls to be to Akhomach.

It’s a fluid situation at this point with things moving quickly but the belief is that Orta could move quickly to snatch a signing from Leeds if he ends up at Sevilla as expected.
