Spanish winger Suso has revealed that he could’ve joined Real Madrid instead of signing for Liverpool in 2010. The 23-year-old, who’s currently at Milan, has spoken to Cadena SER this Wednesday and revealed he could’ve stayed in Spain, but decided to go abroad.

“I had it practically done with Madrid when Liverpool came in. And I had the wish to go to the Premier League,” said the player (via Mundo Deportivo).

Suso left his youth club Cádiz to join Liverpool’s academy when he was still seventeen. The player belonged to the Reds until January 2015, when he was sold to Milan for €1.3m.

Suso had 21 appearances Liverpool’s first team, having scored his only goal against Middlesbrough in a League Cup match. He also spent a season on loan at Almeria during this period.

With four goals and four assists this season, Suso seems to have found his place at Milan now. He also scored a brace in the Milan derby this weekend, something that will obviously be much appreciated by the manager and the fans.

Things may have been very different indeed had Suso been at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. The German manager would have likely got a little more out of him and the Spaniard could now be a Kop favourite.
