Earlier today we brought you an update on Giovani Lo Celso’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Argentina midfielder has been linked with Spurs all summer long, with Mauricio Pochettino thought to be particularly keen on bringing him to the club.
AS reported on the interest today and stated that Lo Celso is ‘waiting for Tottenham’ this summer. That, presumably, means he’s keen on the move happening.
Well, the Seville press provide their information on that and back up what AS are saying. Diario de Sevilla say Lo Celso is currently on holiday but is ‘waiting’ on contact between Spurs and Real Betis.
Estadio Deportivo, meanwhile, go one further and say that Lo Celso ‘is hoping’ that his transfer to Tottenham will be solved while he enjoy his holidays following the Copa America.
The newspaper also updates how likely that is to happen. They say that Betis are holding out for €70m for Lo Celso, partly because 20% of that money is going straight back to Paris Saint Germain and they need as much as possible for their own signings.
All of this points to there being a deal there for Tottenham to do. They clearly like the player, and it seems he is keen on the move as well.
However, unless they stump up Betis’ asking price, or higher than they’ve already offered, there is unlikely to be any movement. The ball is very much in Daniel Levy’s court at this moment in time.
