Giovani Lo Celso was one of the standout players for Real Betis last season, scoring 16 goals and registering six assists in all competitions.

AS claims there was a ‘strong interest’ from Tottenham Hotspur in signing the 23-year-old after the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

He was part of Argentina squad in Brazil for the 2019 Copa America, where they finished third after defeating Chile 2-1 over the weekend.

It’s claimed the former Paris Saint-Germain man, who is now on holiday, is ‘waiting for Tottenham’.

Despite negotiating for Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos, the Champions League runners-up have still maintained contacts with Lo Celso. These two operations are not related to each other.

The north London club completed the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon and even when they were negotiating for the Frenchman, Tottenham were in negotiations with Betis for Lo Celso.

Betis are demanding €75m to sanction their player’s sale, but the English side are unwilling to meet the demands, which is why the agreement for transfer is not easy.

The offer made by Pochettino’s side would see Lo Celso earn three times than what he is currently getting at Betis.
