Emiliano Marcondes has cemented a place at Norwich City since joining them as a free agent last October.
The midfielder spent three years at AFC Bournemouth, who released him in June 2024 and returned to England when the Canaries signed him. He managed four goals and 10 assists from 25 matches for Norwich City.
Marcondes’ contract expires in June and there’s an option to extend it for another year.
Due to his contract situation, Tipsbladet state the 29-yea-old faces an ‘uncertain future’ at Carrow Rod. He also spoke to the Danish outlet to provide an update on his future.
The Dane has held talks with Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side and has asked for clarity on his future this month.
“I don’t know if there’s any news on that option. In any case, we have said that they have to give us an answer in March. We’ve talked and I’m happy to be here, but it has to be right for both of us,” he said.
“Right now, my focus is just to do well and then we’ll see what happens, because things can change really quickly. I’m still open to everything and I’m curious to see what happens.”
When Tipsbladet directly asked him whether he wants to continue with the Championship side, Marcondes explained: “If the right offer is there and it’s a good fit, I could easily see myself staying here.
“I have never been abroad before where I have played in a way that fits my way of thinking and doing things as well as here. I feel like I have a role here, and if they also see that I have it, then it is a good match.
“As I have said before, I have always wanted to be part of a project where there is a bigger role than ‘just’ playing football, and that is what I really like here with Johannes.”
There could be more updates on Marcondes’ future at Norwich City in the coming days or weeks.
The Dane has several compatriots, Oscar Schwartau, Anis Slimane and Jacob Lungi, along with the manager and his assistant, Glen Riddersholm, at Norwich City. He stated this made it easier for him to settle in quickly at the English club.
