Real Betis are ‘increasingly closer’ to signing Junior Firpo from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Orgullo Biri, who report that there is increased confidence at the Spanish club that their former player will be returning from Leeds.

They report that Firpo has established himself as the best left-back in the Championship with his performances this season and that has caught Betis’ attention.

They’re particularly interested because the left-back is set to be available on a free transfer in the summer, meaning he is currently free to negotiate with clubs around Europe under the Bosman ruling.

And there is now confidence at Betis that the is ‘increasingly closer’ to returning to them rather than stay at Leeds or move elsewhere. He played for the club earlier in his career before moving to Leeds in 2021 for €15m.

Now we should point out that this report is almost a follow-up to one earlier today in which Firpo’s performances were highlighted, he was labelled one of the best in England, and likely to be targeted by plenty of clubs this summer.

That also insisted Betis were firmly in the mix for him and it seems that is very much the case, with increasing confidence they’ll get him.
