Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo cover Barcelona’s right back situation on Tuesday. The club are very happy with the development of Sergi Roberto, who scored for the Spanish national team on Monday night.

They see no problem in Sergi Roberto remaining in the position, but the doubt is around Aleix Vidal. Bought from Sevilla in 2015 for around €20m, Aleix is said to be frustrated with his current situation and there’s even an unconfirmed rumour that he requested a free transfer during the summer.

Even though Luis Enrique is said to has gone off the player, Barcelona wouldn’t let him go for free, even if he does go, but they are looking at alternatives.

Mundo Deportivo say that when Dani Alves left the club in the summer it was Hector Bellerin who they wanted to replace him. That track is now dead, according to the newspaper.

There are two reasons for that. Firstly, Barcelona would have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to convince Arsenal to sell. Secondly, now that Sergi Roberto is nailing down a senior role for club and country, they wouldn’t need another big star for the position.

Barcelona are looking at veteran options in case they need to make a move in January.
