On Monday night, Sweden’s U21 team played against their counterparts from Spain. The result was 1-1 with Everton’s Gerard Deulofeu scoring for the away side, before his teammate Mikel Merino, who signed for Borussia Dortmund this year, scored an own goal to level things up.

Khaled Karouri, a journalist for France’s Foot Mercato claimed that a whole host of clubs would be at the match to watch Joel Asoro, ahead of possible transfer moves.

The 17 year old Sunderland player is increasingly taked about around Europe, and was linked with interest at the end of the transfer window. PSG were reported to have initiated contact with the player’s agent over a possible transfer.

Sweden’s Fotbollskanalen quote Asoro as saying after the match: “It was tough, they passed the ball like Barcelona.”
