Portuguese newspaper A Bola today writes about the future of Farense midfielder Ryan Gauld, who should be on his way out of the club this summer.

The club’s squad is starting preseason this week, with physical tests for all players, even though some of them should soon go somewhere else.

There’s now a few clubs interested in Gauld’s signing, and Southampton are one of them.

The Saints are said to be in a list which includes Braga, Portimonense and now Vancouver Whitecaps, with the MLS side being the latest to join the race.

A Bola writes that the 25-year-old will ‘hardly stay’ at Farense for next season, even though it’s still not clear if any of these clubs are in advanced talks for his signing.

Gauld has been playing in Portugal since 2014. He had nine goals and seven assists in 33 appearances this season.

The midfielder is currently valued by Transfermarkt at 5m, and with not many rich clubs getting involved in the race for him, we’d say it’s unlikely that the competition would make his price go up too much.
