Earlier this week, Kicker reported Southampton’s Nathan Tella could be set for a surprise move to the Bundesliga after Bayer Leverkusen identified him as a target.

The 24-year-old was on loan at Burnley last season, where he managed 19 goals and five assists. He’s not keen to continue in the Championship.

That’s according to the latest report from Kicker, who state Bayer Leverkusen’s deal to sign the Southampton winger is ‘getting hotter’.

That’s because Tella has ‘now decided’ to make a switch to Germany despite attracting interest from the Premier League. It’s down to the two clubs to find an agreement for the transfer to take shape, which hasn’t happened so far.

On Friday, claims from England mentioned Xabi Alonso’s side making a €18m bid. This is relayed by Kicker, who then provide their own take on this case.

It’s said the difference between the fee proposed by Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton’s demand is ‘not insurmountable’.

Leverkusen have set a ‘pain limit’ to secure Tella’s services and Kicker question whether their limit will be enough to convince the English club to part ways with the attacker.

Meanwhile, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg claims Leverkusen have a ‘verbal agreement’ with the player.

He adds the German club want to pay around €16-18m in fixed fee while Southampton want €25-30m. The ‘negotiations [are] ongoing’ between the two clubs.
