Barcelona face tough competition from Chelsea in the chase to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko, according to Sport.

On December 21st, the Blues announced the appointment of Christopher Vivell as their new technical director.

He arrived at Chelsea after spending over two years at RB Leipzig as their technical director. Prior to that, he’d worked at Red Bull Salzburg and TSG Hoffenheim.

Vivell is aware of Moukoko’s qualities, and the west London club’s new chief wants to go all out to sign the striker, whose contract expires at the end of this season.

Barca want to take the 18-year-old as a free agent in the summer, but Chelsea are getting in their way. The newspaper states the west London club currently seem to be ‘on pole’.

BVB, for their part, have not given up on retaining the Germany international. Sport state their renewal offer includes €5m gross per year plus bonuses. His agent, Patrick Williams, is also requesting a signing bonus to sign an extension.

Dortmund are urging Moukoko to make a decision and if he decides not to stay, they will look to bring in his replacement. Sport end their report by stating ‘a solution seems almost imminent’.
