Borussia Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke spoke to the German media at the weekend and explained now really isn’t the right time to be talking about transfers, given the world crisis with Covid-19.
Watzke also made it clear clubs looking to get a discount on Dortmund players, such as Jadon Sancho, in the next window, wouldn’t be able to. They don’t need the money and will stick to their valuation regardless of the current financial hit to football.
It’s all left some BVB supporters wondering what will happen with their own signings, and Bild seeks to address that on Monday.
Two players are picked out, Birmingham City’s Jude Bellingham and PSG’s Thomas Meunier.
According to the newspaper, the Birmingham youngster and Meunier want to join Borussia Dortmund and things are advanced for both. It’s claimed ‘only the signatures are missing’ for the moves to happen in the summer, because the transfers were ‘well advanced’ before the crisis started.
Despite a recent pause in talks, both signings are seen as almost certain, with the German media continuing their confidence that Bellingham will be swapping Birmingham for Dortmund.
