While there were few worries that Sheffield United’s attempts to sign Panagiotis Retsos, the deal is now  done.

That’s what SDNA in Greece are reporting on Friday morning, claiming the player will be ‘definitely playing’ in the Premier League at Bramall Lane for the second half of the season.

The outlet explain the Bayer Leverkusen centre-back will be arriving on loan with a view to buy, although the amount has yet to be revealed.

The deal taking Retsos from the Bundesliga to Sheffield United should be announced later in the day,  and he was ‘expected in England’ on Thursday evening to complete his move.

Signed back in 2017 for £16m from Olympiakos, the 21-year-old has struggled to get first team football with Bayer this year, making just six appearances in all competitions, totalling a measly 271 minutes.

The Greek defender, once the deal is complete, will be Chris Wilder’s third signing of the transfer window after splashing £23.4m on Sander Berge and Jack Robinson from Nottingham Forest.
