Sheffield United have reportedly placed an offer for FC Metz striker Georges Mikautadze.

The Blades’ attempt to sign the 22-year-old is reported by the French media, where Le10Sport feature a story about his situation.

It’s claimed that Metz recently received two bids for Mikautadze. One from Sheffield United and one from Lazio.

The Blades’ offer is described as ‘very nice’, as they put €18m plus bonuses on the table.

Lazio, meanwhile, offered less, and seem to stand behind in the race.

Le10Sport claims that Metz’s request for Mikautadze’s move is €20m. And it’s not made clear if the bonuses included in Sheffield United’s bid would match those demands.

The report makes it sound more like the race is still open, as ‘the soap opera could quickly evolve in the hours to come’.

It’s highlighted that Lyon are also interested in the player, and even though they haven’t placed their bid yet, it’s not too late for them to do so.

After the 24 goals scored by Mikautadze last season, Metz know they have a valuable player in hands, and will continue to wait for big offers.
