Sheffield United have given the ‘green light’ for striker Lys Mousset to join Salernitana after they agree to end his contract early.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say Sheffield United are willing to let Mousset end his contract five months early and join Salernitana on a free transfer.
Reports over the last week have indicated that Salernitana were making a surprise move for Mousset at the end of this transfer window.
A deal was reportedly being worked on between the two clubs over a loan until the end of the season, although there was a complication because Mousset’s current contract with Sheffield United expires in the summer.
It seems they’ve now come to a different agreement, with TMW reporting they’ve given the green light for Mousset to end his contract at Bramall Lane early.
They are set to release the striker, at which point he will sign a five-month contract with the Italian side. The deal will involve the option to ‘come back’ and sign an extension, though, should things work out well for all parties.
The website states that ‘documents are being exchanged’ and Salernitana are ‘ready to welcome’ their new striker to the club.
