Bordeaux are ready to finalise a move for Manchester United defender Phil Jones after president Admar Lopes convinced him on the move.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Lopes has ‘personally done what was necessary’ to convince Jones to move to France.
The ‘seduction operation’ has obviously worked as the 29-year-old is set to be loaned to Bordeaux until the end of the season, unless the situation changes.
This is backed up by journalist Sebastien Denis, who also reports that a move for the Manchester United is set to be completed.
He reports that he’s had ‘confirmation’ from the club that Jones will be arriving, although he doesn’t say that it will be a loan deal.
Either way that seems to be on the cards, with FM stating that Jones is no longer a part of Manchester United’s plans and so has been allowed to leave.
He will arrive in France to bolster a Bordeaux defence that has been ‘in a state of agony’ this season and needs additions this month.
That’s why they’ve got in Jones, who will be hoping to get regular game time away from Old Trafford and get his career back on track in France.
