Sheffield United are ‘closing in’ on a deal for Bröndby IF midfielder Anis Slimane and are ‘confident’ of sealing the transfer soon.

That’s according to journalist Santi Aouna, who says the Blades are closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Sheffield United will be keen to improve their squad for life back in the Premier League in the coming weeks, having successfully secured promotion last season with a second placed finish in the Championship.

They’re yet to add any players to Paul Heckingbottom’s group, which has been depleted by the departures of Enda Stevens, Jake Eastwood, Jack O’Connell, Billy Sharp and Kyron Gordon already.

It seems they are now close to changing that, though, with Aouna reporting that they are ‘closing in’ on the deal for Slimane and there is confidence at Sheffield United that the transfer will be done soon.

He makes no mention of a transfer fee or contract details for the 22-year-old, who is valued at €2.5m by Transfermarkt for reference.

We’ll wait for further information on that front then, but it appears he’s on his way to the Premier League where the Blades are ready to welcome him.
