The performance that former West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca had in Atalanta’s win over Empoli at the weekend continues to get huge attention from the Italian media.

The local press first praised the player for his two goals and one assist in the 3-0 win, and now it’s time for them to reflect on what a great signing he was.

As Tutto Atalanta now feature a story on his current form, they make interesting mentions of his transfer from West Ham.

The website writes Scamacca has gone ‘from the shadow to the light’ by leaving London for Bergamo this year.

It’s said that following the ‘confidence and continuity’ he didn’t have at West Ham, he now finds everything he needs at Atalanta, where he has four goals and one assist in nine appearances so far.

Scamacca’s time at the English club wasn’t great but was far from disastrous. He was signed in a €28.5m move from Sassuolo in the summer of 2022, and in one season with the Hammers, he had eight goals in 27 appearances.

West Ham accepted to sell him for €25m in the summer, and both he and the Italian media seem thrilled about the move.
