Sander Berge has been a regular for Sheffield United in this calendar year after struggling with injuries for most part of 2021.

The midfielder had an opportunity to leave the Championship side in the summer, as Club Brugge came forward in securing his services last month, but were unable to reach the Blades’ asking price.

Towards the end of the window that was closed on Thursday, ‘several Premier League clubs’ tried taking the 24-year-old away from Sheffield United.

That’s according to TV2, who state these sides wanted the Norway international on a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy.

It’s also said the player’s agent, Morten Wivestad, was spotted in England on Thursday, to try to convince Sheffield United to sanction a move for his client.

The outlet didn’t name the Premier League clubs that tried signing Berge on the deadline day, but do state they were ‘unable to reach an agreement’ with Paul Heckingbottom’s side.

Berge has two goals and two assists from seven league matches for Sheffield United this season.
