There’s been a ‘serious response’ from Juventus to Manchester City’s claimed offer of €8m per season to Leonardo Bonucci. The Italian international has been linked with a Premier League move for months, and it looks like it’s helped get him a well deserved new contract with Juventus.

Calciomercato carry an exclusive on Tuesday morning that Bonucci is ready to say yes to a Juventus renewal offer which could go over €5m per year when team bonuses are included. Indeed, if all the bonus targets, including a Champions League win, are met then it’s over €6m.

If these figures sound low in comparison to Premier League salaries for top players, it’s because they’re likely after tax, as is often the way footballer wages are presented in Italy.

Bonucci has chosen to remain at Juventus rather than take up the Manchester City offer and try and push a move through in a future window. It was always unlikely the Italian international would leave Serie A, but it was of course worth a try.
