Matteo Darmian’s future at Manchester United is understandably under question. The right back, who can also play on the left, has been well out of Jose Mourinho’s plans so far this season and unless something drastic changes, it’s difficult to see a way back to prominence for the footballer at Old Trafford.

Given that he’s an Italian international, Darmian would like to keep it that way and knows he needs games to continue to be part of the Italy set-up. That brings the prospect of a move closer, and there have been repeated reports in the Italian media strongly linking Darmian with a string of Serie A clubs.

Screen Shot 2016-10-12 at 07.20.49That would be the most likely scenario by far, and see Darmian return to a league he was successful in, and a country he obviously knows.

Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo report on Wednesday that he’s on offer to Barcelona, as they look for a Aleix Vidal replacement.

There’s no explanation of who has put the offer forward, or whether it’s simply assumed given the player’s situation, but it’s claimed Darmian and fellow Italian Mattia De Sciglio are possibilities on the table.

Several other players are linked, and perhaps more likely, given the assumption that Darmian would prefer a return to Italy.
