West Ham United star Lucas Paquetá today had a big chance to tease over a Manchester City move, but chose not to do so.

The midfielder held a press conference at Brazil’s national team camp, and one of the questions was about the rumours of Pep Guardiola’s interest in signing him.

Paquetá could praised Manchester City, perhaps flirted a little, but simply ignored that and highlighted his commitment to West Ham. The video comes from TNT Sports.

“I have a lot of respect for my club, which is West Ham. I’ve been having a very good season and that has helped me a lot in my evolution in the Premier League. So I think that out of respect for them I have to stay focused on my duty at West Ham and keep working,” said Paquetá.

Lucas Paquetá is making a big return to the national team, as he’d been left out of the squad since the betting investigations started. In the same interview, he thanked West Ham for letting him play during this time, and for the support the Hammers have provided.

The midfielder was signed by the Hammers in a €23m move from Lyon back in 2022, and is now valued by Transfermarkt at €65m. Now in case Manchester City do come in for him, it’s very likely that the London side would demand even more for the sale.

For now, though, Paquetá seems to be completely focused on doing his best for West Ham and recovering his place in Brazil’s team.
