Real Madrid are interested in a move for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and could try to sign him in the January transfer window, according to claims from Spain.

Aubameyang has been in fine form for Arsenal once again this season with eight goals in 11 games making him the third-highest goalscorer in the Premier League this year.

However, there are doubts about his future at the Emirates, with reports in England suggesting that Arsenal are struggling to convince the Gabon striker to sign a new deal at the club.

That’s led to speculation that he could be on the move, with Barcelona and Real Madrid both linked with moves in recent weeks.

Sport cover the situation today and say that while Barça are not interested, Real Madrid certainly are.

According to the newspaper, Aubameyang’s representatives have made it clear to Barcelona that Madrid are keen on the player.

Real ‘have considered the possibility’ of signing Aubameyang in January so long as Arsenal’s asking price is reasonable and they are willing to accept a player in the deal.

Madrid’s interest has come about because they are starting to doubt Luka Jovic, and Aubameyang has stated on more than one occasion he would like to play for the club.

In Barcelona ‘no movement has been made’, and Aubameyang is not a priority, although they want a number nine and there are limited options so ‘everything can happen’.

At the minute, though, it seems to be Real Madrid who are pushing hardest, and Arsenal may face a fight to keep hold of their star man this winter.
