For months, the Portuguese media had been saying that in case Rangers failed to qualify for the Champions League group stage, Porto would have an easier task in signing Alfredo Morelos.

So when the Glasgow side were eliminated by Malmo this week, several outlets started saying that could be the Dragons’ chance to finally land the Rangers striker.

However, newspaper O Jogo is back today to say that things still won’t be so easy, as the difficulty to convince Rangers of a transfer continues.

The outlet says Morelos is ‘out of limits’ for Porto, because the price of over €15m demanded by Rangers continues to be an amount which the Dragons can’t match.

Porto are said to have other priorities in this transfer window. They must first manage to make a good sale, and then should strengthen their defence, especially by signing a new left-back.

O Jogo also takes claims from Scotland, since the Daily Record recently claimed that ‘sources close to Morelos’ don’t believe the Dragons will make an attempt for his signing. The Portuguese newspaper tried to get in touch with the striker’s agent Michael Gorman, but had no success.
