With plenty of traditional clubs facing each other in the Europa League this week, the coverage from the international press has been widespread.

In Portugal, they’ve been speaking to those who have played for Rangers, who can give them an opinion on how the clash against Porto will be.

Now it turns out that a rather prominent Rangers figure has been interviewed, but actually about another match. Lorenzo Amoruso has spoken to La Lazio Siamo Noi about Celtic’s game against the Italian side.

Amoruso used his experience in Scottish football to talk about what Lazio shouldn’t do against Neil Lennon’s Celtic, despite making it clear he believes the Serie A side to be a better team.

“Lazio are superior, but they have a team that can create problems especially if they take advantage of the limits set by the biancocelesti this year,” the Ibrox legend told La Lazio Siamo Noi.

“There have been several situations that have limited Lazio, look at the first half with Atalanta. Lazio lack concentration, a mental problem that you pay for against physical teams just like Celtic. Technically, Lazio are superior, but can’t think they can have an easy task. Celtic Park is a special environment, it brings a lot European character and mentality.”

Amoruso has also been asked about the Scottish Premiership, and had some critical comments to make about it, saying the tournament used to be a lot more attractive at the time he played there.

“Over the years the Scottish Premiership has changed for the worse. Investors and presidents of a certain weight have failed, so it’s natural for the big ones to look for other destinations and the clubs to focus a lot on youngsters.

“You must know that when you face these teams, being technically superior is not enough, you must also know that if you don’t go to retaliate their physical preparation, in the long run you risk paying for it. The technique is often overwhelmed by running and the rhythms that they manage. It’s not enough to put quality against the Scots.”
