Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike and this has been discussed regularly for the past two weeks or so.

On January 6th, Le10 Sport reported Wolves have accelerated their efforts by making direct contact with the striker. Last week, L’Equipe said Gary O’Neil’s side and Eintracht Frankfurt have taken the lead in the transfer race.

Wolves have to put up a serious fight with the Bundesliga side to sign the 21-year-old this month.

That’s according to Bild, who state the German club are currently in ‘very good talks’ with the Frenchman. His salary is the biggest hurdle and the two parties are addressing this issue.

It’s claimed Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche has made it clear to the Wolves target that his side won’t pay him more than €3m per year. He’s shown willingness to agree to their conditions, which is something for the Premier League side to consider.

Bild add Eintracht Frankfurt are considering paying over €20m for Ekitike, who hasn’t made an appearance since last August.

They further state: ‘The poker continues, there is more and more movement, a transfer is becoming more likely.’

Wolves have no choice but to act quickly and convince Ekitike, if they wish to sign him in January.
