Thursday’s edition of L’Equipe is packed full of transfer stories involving French clubs this summer. Once again Ligue 1 is expected to be a prominent player in the transfer market, with the world’s biggest clubs looking to take away some of the talent.

This year there seems an especially vast array of options for Premier League clubs to look at, and that’s largely down to AS Monaco. The French principality club’s decision to change their focus to recruiting great young talent, developing that talent, and then selling it on is working remarkably well.

Manchester City have been linked with several Monaco players, just like other big English clubs, and L’Equipe don’t disappoint. The French newspaper believe Monaco have a ‘moral commitment’ to let Fabinho go this summer, having kept him when previous offers came in.

Fabinho is 23 years of age, he’s an excellent all round footballer and is a natural fullback who can also play in midfield… which makes him sound pretty much perfect for Pep Guardiola.
