Despite making 31 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur this season, Dutch striker Vincent Janssen isn’t very happy with the amount of minutes he’s been getting.

The player, who was signed for the Spurs for over €22m last summer, has mainly been a substitute option for Mauricio Pochettino, and used to cover for injuries.

Speaking to Dutch outlet Voetball International on Wednesday, Janssen made it clear he expected his situation at Spurs to be better by now, but the club’s form means he can’t have complaints.

“Of course I’m not satisfied with the amount of playing time in recent months,” he told Voetbal International. “But I remain positive. Moreover, things are going very well at Tottenham Hotspur. I’m not going to walk around as the only player whining. That makes no sense.”

Despite this issue, Voetbal International claim Janssen will still be Holland’s number one for the striker position. He’s Danny Blind’s choice to start against Bulgaria on Saturday.

That seems to have brought the player some motivation for the next few games: “I feel fitter than in previous years. I just feel like I have energy. I have enough self-confidence. I know what I can do and there is nothing changed ‘

On the competition with Bas Dost, who has been in great form for Sporting CP in Portugal, Janssen said: “I’m happy for Bas. He is a top guy and it’s nice for him it’s going so well.”
