It appears that Everton are about to lose Arnaut Danjuma this winter, with Lyon getting closer to signing the winger from Villarreal.

The Dutchman arrived at Goodison Park at the second time of asking after first snubbing them for Tottenham, but never really managed to get going under Sean Dyche.

This led to Lyon wanting to save him from Everton and give him time in France, which Foot Mercato are reporting they are now close to achieving.

It’s said the deal is ‘well on its way’, as they are ‘very interested’ in getting him in their squad before the end of the month in a loan with an option to buy.

They want that fee to have a limit of €15m, but if they cannot reach an agreement on that for the current Everton man, then a normal dry six month loan would please them as well.

Lyon never gave up despite the difficulties of having to deal with the Toffees’ desire as well, but they already have an agreement with the winger, who also spoke to Memphis Depay about life at the Ligue 1 side.

The ball is currently with Everton, who told Lyon they need to find a replacement for Danjuma before agreeing to break his loan with them.

That appears to be on its way to being done, according to the French website, although they don’t reveal who the Goodison Park side have lined up.

This is echoed by Sébastien Denis, who posted that the replacement has been found.

This means, for Lyon, that barring some sort of U-turn, they are getting their man.
