Giovani Lo Celso has recovered from a hamstring injury and was an unused substitute in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win over Luton Town at the weekend.

The midfielder was sidelined for over a month and prior to that, he made one substitute appearance in the league and that resulted in reports linking him with a move away from Spurs.

A ‘confidential’ report from Sport names Barcelona as a contender after they missed out on the Tottenham player in the last window.

The La Liga side looked at the 27-year-old after finding out it was impossible for them to sign Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.

Sport say Xavi Hernández still likes him but a potential deal remains complicated because the Argentina international ‘will not leave’ the north London club. It’s claimed Lo Celso’s situation there has ‘changed radically’ as Ange Postecoglou is ‘betting on him’

The report states an ‘important financial offer’ is needed to convince Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to let go of the player, and taking Barca’s economic conditions into account, it becomes ‘unfeasible’ for them to sign Lo Celso.

Therefore, the Catalan club have started looking for alternatives in the market that’ll fit into their sporting and financial conditions.

Argentina will face Paraguay and Peru in the next few days and manager Lionel Scaloni has included the Tottenham player in his squad for the two World Cup qualifiers.
