With Romelu Lukaku arriving at Chelsea in the next few days, Tammy Abraham is going to need a new club, with both AS Roma and Arsenal waiting for him.

Atalanta were in the mix for a bit, but the England international turned them down, thinking a move to the Emirates would suit him better.

The problem here is that Chelsea would rather he moved abroad, which is why the option of AS Roma is more favourable, and that’s the one they are focusing on.

José Mourinho’s side are going to need a new striker themselves as Edin Dzeko is expected to replace Lukaku at Inter, which is where Tammy Abraham, who plays for the Blues, would ideally end the short but sweet striker domino effect started by the Premier League side’s transfer for the Belgian.

Corriere dello Sport explain ‘an agreement was reached yesterday’ between Roma and Chelsea for an initial loan with an obligation to buy, which Tiago Pinto is ‘pushing to close’.

Wanting a ‘young prospect who still has experience in a great league’, the Serie A side focused on Abraham, who is ‘Mourinho’s favourite’ for the role, having allegedly ‘contacted him to ask about his availability’.

‘Also courted by Arsenal’, the Chelsea striker is a player Abramovich is ‘willing to sell’, but his starting price of €47m led Roma to ‘approach with a deferred payment’.

The Blues were ‘initially hesitant to accept these conditions’, but they then decided the paid loan with an obligation to buy was better ‘in order not to face him with the Gunners shirt’.

As things stand, according to Corriere, the ‘player’s OK is missing’, but Gazzetta dello Sport don’t reckon that will be too difficult.

That’s down to José Mourinho, because the newspaper state that Abraham, following the ‘strong acceleration by Roma’, is driven ‘by the desire to show Chelsea that he can break through in Serie A’ under the Portuguese manager.

Despite saying no to Atalanta because of Arsenal’s courtship, ‘the attraction for José has made the difference’.

To us, that sounds like he’s more than ready to head to Roma, and prove everyone who doubted him at Stamford Bridge wrong.
