When covering the Luis Suarez saga this summer, we’ve read many times that Watford could either sell him or keep him for the upcoming season.

But a story from Portuguese newspaper Record today claims that the player isn’t very keen on staying at Vicarage Road.

Their headline says ‘Luis Suarez wants to leave’, claiming that if his future ‘only depended on himself’, his departure ‘would happen this summer’.

According to Record, the striker believes it’s time to move to a more competitive club, and Portuguese side Sporting would fit his requirements.

The newspaper says that even though he’s also wanted by the likes of Bologna and Valencia, Suarez feels like he could evolve more at a club who can fight for titles and play European competitions, which is Sporting’s case.

It’s said Watford are currently demanding €15m for only 50% of the striker’s rights. Reports from Portugal yesterday claimed Sporting wouldn’t spend that much on the signing, since they offered only €5m for that share.

So that’s a situation which could drag on until the end of the transfer window.
