Even though it feels like it’s been 84 years, the Gabriel Magalhães saga remains a fairly new one, as in it hasn’t even lasted 12 months.

It looks like it won’t go on for much longer, either, as Lille have made it clear the defender will be leaving this summer, and it was now entirely up to the player himself to choose his next destination.

And he has, according to La Voix du Nord, who explain the Brazilian wants to head to Arsenal after recently ‘exchanging’ with the Gunners’ representatives.

The centre-back was ‘particularly responsive’ to their arguments, and now ‘wants to join’ the Emirates club ‘as quickly as possible’.

La Voix du Nord state ‘we’ll know more in the coming days’, as Lille are asking for €30m, and while Gabriel may have chosen Arsenal, it’s made clear ‘Manchester United haven’t said their last word’, especially following their qualification for the Champions League.

As for Everton, long thought to be frontrunners for the defender, it’s said their efforts have ‘run out of breath’.

It seems Gabriel has made his mind up, and it’s now up to Arsenal, who recently released a statement explaining they were a bit strapped for cash due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, to find the €30m Lille are looking for.
