West Ham United have agreed a deal with VfB Stuttgart for Konstantinos Mavropanos but the latest claims indicated there were complications in this operation.

On Monday, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna stated the defender’s move to the Premier League side could collapse after he failed the medical tests. This was backed up by Fussball Transfers, who also added the deal isn’t dead yet.

Sky Deutschland have now dismissed claims of the 25-year-old failing a medical with West Ham.

In fact, the report insists the centre-back has already completed his medical examinations and is now ‘on the verge’ of leaving the Bundesliga side to join the Hammers.

“That’s not true [claims of failed medical] according to our information. He passed it, everything is going according to plan,” Sky reporter Dennis Bayer said.

Even though the Greece international is closer to joining West Ham, Sky state there are still ‘final contract details’ that need to be worked out before the deal goes through. They don’t specify what those details are but it’s expected to be worked out soon.

Stuttgart will collect €20m plus bonuses from Mavropanos’ sale and he will sign a five-year deal with West Ham.
