Sport have an article on Friday lunchtime with the headline ‘Eriksen cools’, and claim a potential transfer to Real Madrid is becoming less likely for the Tottenham player.

Earlier this week, he spoke to the Danish media and made it clear he’s considering leaving Spurs. There was also a little flirting with Madrid, and an explanation that a renewal isn’t off the table if the conditions are right.

Sport claim Tottenham want €120m, whereas Madrid aren’t keen to pay more than €75m for the player. Florentino Perez doesn’t think Eriksen is the level of star who justifies such a huge investment.

It’s explained the Denmark international ‘threatens to renew’ if Madrid don’t show they’re genuinely serious about wanting to sign him.

Madrid would prefer the situation to continue as it is, without a renewal, and for Tottenham to feel forced to lower their price. If that doesn’t work, they could get Eriksen on a free transfer next year.

Zinedine Zidane’s preference for Paul Pogba is once again stated.
