Samuel Umtiti to Manchester United is spreading out across the Spanish media, with an increasing number of takes on the situation.
Tuesday’s edition of AS reports the defender ‘threatens to leave’ Barcelona and like other reports it’s apparent how difficult a situation Umtiti has got the Catalan club in.
Doing surprisingly well at Barcelona, with the Catalan media repeatedly explaining few at the club expected him to be so good already, Umtiti’s €60m buyout clause doesn’t really fit.
For Manchester United such a fee isn’t too much and it’s once again brought up that €9m per year, after tax, is said to have been offered.
AS state a Barcelona source has told them renewal efforts are ongoing, but “there’s a long way to go”. On a brighter note for Barcelona, it’s added “the two parties are going the same way”.
If the claims are true then it’s likely Manchester United are being used by the Umtiti camp to get more money out of the player’s current club.
But if Barcelona don’t play ball, and fail to offer the defender what he feels he’s worth, then a transfer would obviously become more likely.
