Aston Villa gaining momentum in race for January transfer – Potential big advantage

Real Madrid striker Endrick is a target for Aston Villa, with another January transfer window loan looking likely for the Brazilian striker.

The 20-year-old is currently out of the picture under José Mourinho. And that means he is weighing up options to leave Real Madrid again in January.

The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, having struggled for minutes in the Spanish capital.

The plan was for him to get regular minutes in France, re-establish himself and perhaps return to Real Madrid this summer to compete for a first team place this season. But that has not happened.

To date, the Brazilian striker has managed one, four-minute appearance in La Liga. They came in the 3-2 win over Elche in the middle of September.

January exit on cards

Cadena SER now report that the first month under Mourinho has been enough to show Endrick that he has once again been left out of the picture.

He’s bearing the brunt of the fierce competition in Madrid’s forward line, despite continuing to be a part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans with Brazil. That’s turned attention to the January transfer window.

Endrick is already exploring his options for a winter exit. Roma are knocking on the door, having asked questions in the summer transfer window. Lyon would also welcome a second loan deal.

Aston Villa gaining momentum

But the option ‘gaining the most momentum’ right now is that of Aston Villa. Unai Emery and his team have set their sights on the Brazilian.

And they might have a major advantage, if they remain in the Champions League. Endrick would like to compete in that competition.

After the loan move last season, another could be the answer for all parties in the next January transfer window. That would provide the Real Madrid youngster with the playing time he wants, and the striker that Aston Villa need.

For now, there is no mention of Aston Villa making moves or asking questions. But Cadena SER insist that they are at the front of the queue as a January window move looks increasingly likely.
