According to a claim in the Greek media, Kostas Fortounis could still leave Olympiacos even if he agrees to a new contract with the club.
Sdna.Gr report West Ham United are still keen to sign the player and even if Fortounis agrees to the three year deal offered to him, it doesn’t guarantee he will be with them next season.
According to Sdna.Gr, West Ham will still make a move for Fortounis even if he commits himself to Olympiacos as this isn’t seen as an obstacle by the Premier League side.
Previous reports from Greece said West Ham had made an offer Olympiacos for the 26year old which was rejected. However, Sdna.gr report the Hammers could now pay up to €18m for the player.
West Ham’s sporting director Mario Husillos is said to be leading the chase for Fortounis after working with the Greece international when he was at Olympiacos.
Fortounis’ contract will expire at the end of June 2020.
