Following the statements from Carlo Ancelotti on Friday that Casemiro wanted to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United, it was only a matter of time before fresh information appeared.

That appears to have been provided by the Spanish media, who run through what exactly happened behind the scenes at Valdebebas, the La Liga side’s training ground, this morning.

Casemiro was present in training despite the rumours surrounding a move to Manchester United, but Marca’s Mario Cortegana explains on his Twitter the Brazilian arrived ‘early’.

The reason for that was for the defensive midfielder to have a ‘meeting with Ancelotti’, where he wanted to put forward his desire for a new challenge, handed to him on a plate by the Old Trafford side.

He then went ahead and held ‘informal farewell with the dressing room’ before heading out to training, where he spent 15 minutes with the group and the remaining 45 minutes on ‘specific training to one side’.

Why that is is explained by AS journalist C.A. Forjanes, who corroborates Cortegana’s information, stating Casemiro ‘said goodbye to those working at Valdebebas before the session’.

He arrived ‘an hour and a quarter early to stop by Ancelotti’s office and to be able to chat with his teammates, who last night were not 100% sure about his decision’.

In another tweet, Forjanes adds that Casemiro underwent ‘specific training so as not to put his signing for Manchester United at risk’.

Ancelotti, down his end, after having spoken with the player in his office, planned ‘the hardest part of the session without the Brazilian’, suggesting the midfielder will be nowhere near his starting line up to face Celta Vigo on Saturday.

That’s another big plus for Manchester United, who appear to finally be heading in the right direction in their attempts to bring in a new midfielder for Erik ten Hag.
