After scoring his first professional goal in an important derby against Flamengo, Fluminense wonderkid João Pedro has given a press conference on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old, who’s already been sold to Watford, was pretty shy during the interview, and has even admitted that scoring against a rival is easier than speaking to the press.
“I was very happy, coming back from an injury. I worked this week and scored in Fla-Flu, which is the dream of every kid from Xerém, especially at Maracanã,” João Pedro told the local press (via Lance). “I received many messages from family and friends. I’m climbing from the academy now, I came to help. We are working for what the professor needs.”
“I was happy when I heard about the proposal, but at the moment I’m thinking about Fluminense, evolving, helping the club and the squad to get there and do a good job. I have a dream of winning a Champions League, playing in big clubs and winning everything I can.
“I intend to evolve, grow in Brazilian football, and when I get there in European football, I can conquer things like Richarlison and Neymar.”
Earlier today, we’ve covered a report from Brazil which explained all the payments Watford could make for João Pedro, in a deal which could cost the Hornets a total of €10m. The player is moving to England in 2020.
