From the 17th of June to the 3rd of July, the Chilean press had forgotten about Claudio Bravo.

The Manchester City goalkeeper had been getting a lot of attention for being out of the squad for the Copa America, and for a couple of weeks the local media changed their focus to the tournament.

But since Chile lost in the semifinals to Peru, it’s time to speak to the former captain once again, and bring back all the controversies with him.

Bravo spoke to the press this Friday, and although he didn’t mean to create new controversies around the national team, his quotes were once again spicy against manager Reinaldo Rueda, who had visited him in Manchester before the call up.

“I’ve been very clear: I did not quit. I made myself available to the manager when he visited me in Manchester, but it didn’t depend on me not being there. It’s something that was not in my hands,” said Bravo (via La Tercera).

Bravo was also asked about his future and the rumours about Asier Riesgo’s arrival at Manchester City being a factor in Bravo’s possible departure, but he claims to have no plans to leave the club this summer.

“I am ambitious, in the sense of wanting to aspire to the maximum. I’m in the best team in England and it would be crazy to get out of there… I have to be at my club and see what happens later.”
