Signed by Brentford in 2020 from RB Leipzig, Mads Bidstrup wasn’t part of Thomas Frank’s plans this season, and so was sent on loan to FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.
The midfielder enjoyed a good season there, and likely played his last game this week for the Danish side, as he will return to the Bees when his loan ends.
The player gave an interview to Ekstra Bladet on Monday following the 0-0 draw against Viborg at the weekend, where he was asked about his future and potentially playing for Brentford next year.
He said he has ‘to go back’ to the Premier League side and see if he ‘can fit into the team’, before adding that ‘nothing comes for free’.
He will hope that his 34 appearances for Nordsjaelland can help him going forward, but admitted: “It’s a very difficult task to take on in Brentford, but I am ready for it and am ready to give it a head start.”
As for what he thinks about his time in his home country over the last season, he said: “It’s difficult to put into words, I think. It’s been an absolutely amazing journey. It’s been a tough few weeks, and it hit me after the Brøndby game that this is probably my last game for FC Nordsjaelland.”
