Brentford may have been given their opportunity to sign Nice striker Kasper Dolberg, with the French side now open to a sale.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the striker is one of several players Nice would be happy to move on this summer.
We covered a report towards the end of June that stated Brentford were looking at Dolberg as they look to strengthen for a second year in the Premier League.
They were said to be ‘studying the possibility’ of a move for the 24-year-old, although, at the time, it wasn’t mentioned if Nice would be open to a deal.
Foot Mercato now follow that up and say that as part of a ‘big downsizing’ at the club this summer, Dolberg could be moved on.
They say that Dolberg does not appear to be in new manager Lucien Favre’s plans as he’s planning for a 4-3-3 system and has other options ahead of the striker.
That’s opened up the door to a transfer, thus giving Brentford, who had previously shown an interest, a chance to get their man.
To be clear, there is no specific mention of Thomas Frank’s side at this point, and it is made clear that Dolberg ‘has not yet made a move’, so a transfer isn’t imminent.
Brentford were named as suitors less than a month ago, though, and with Nice now open to a sale, there is a deal there to be done if they want it.
