Alex Moreno is already in Birmingham to undergo a medical with Aston Villa ahead of his move to the club.

That’s according to journalist Pepe Elías, who says the defender flew on a private jet yesterday after fog had lifted and allowed him to fly. He also has an image of the player taking the private flight.

According to his information, the defender flew on Tuesday afternoon from San Pablo airport in Seville to Birmingham.

He has already passed various medical tests and was due to complete the rest early this morning before signing his contract at mid-day.

His transfer to Aston Villa should be official ‘within hours’ and Unai Emery is close to securing his first signing of the January transfer window.

Real Betis are already working to sign his replacement, with sporting director Antonio Cordón lining up several candidates to fill what will be a major hole in Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

That is further indication that Moreno’s move to Aston Villa is in the very final stages and should be announced at some point soon.
