Leeds United’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United last night ‘will have confirmed’ to new signing Max Wöber that he made the ‘right decision’ in moving to Elland Road.

That’s according to journalist Peter Linden, who says Wöber will have been watching from the stands and convinced he’s made a smart choice in moving from Salzburg.

Wöber became Leeds United’s first signing of the January transfer window earlier this week, joining in a €20m deal that could rise if various bonuses are met.

He is the latest player to arrive at Elland Road from Salzburg, joining the likes of Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen in moving between the two sides.

He is expected to arrive and provide competition for Leeds’ established backline, which has struggled this season and already conceded 31 goals in the Premier League.

The defender was in the stands for the 2-2 draw with West Ham last night and Linden says what he saw in that game ‘will have confirmed’ to the player that he has ‘made the right decision’ in making the switch.

Why that isn’t the case isn’t mentioned but perhaps it has to do with the fact Leeds defenders conceded a penalty and were at fault again for the second goal as a mistake at the back allowed Gianluca Scamacca to score.

That showed there is an opportunity for him to stake his claim and perhaps establish himself as the new, dependable centre-back that Leeds need.

That’s just our guess, of course, but as far as Linden is concerned Wöber will have seen enough in the game to convince him that the switch to Elland Road is the right one.
