Even though Robert Kenedy only had a few months to show something at Newcastle, the player seems pretty happy for what he was able to do in this time.

With two goals and two assists in 12 appearances, the Brazilian has shown he deserved a place in the starting team, and has been keeping it that way until the end of the season.

Kenedy spoke to ESPN Brasil after Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat against Watford this weekend, and despite the loss, he had some good things to say about his spell with the Magpies.

Speaking to reporter João Castelo Branco, Kenedy said: “I really wish we had won, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be this time. But I’m happy for the end of the season I’ve done at Newcastle, I’m happy to be able to help the team, the squad is really good. Everyone welcomed me very well. I’m happy to be working at a great team.”

Regarding the loan spell from Chelsea, Kenedy explained the reasons behind it, and claims the move to Newcastle has been a good thing for him.

“At Chelsea there are lots of great players, so the chance was little. So I was playing in a little while. Then this opportunity came, I was very happy I could come to have continuity, to have more time to play.

“Yes, it gives more confidence to come back and play. I had a long time stopped without playing, I think I was a year and a little without playing. So I was happy to be able to play in the Premier League again.”

Asked about his future, the Brazilian claims that nothing is certain yet, and doesn’t seem very confident that he would be playing for the blues in the next season, which sounds good for Newcastle’s hopes of signing him.

“Well, I don’t know. My contract here ends at the end of the season. Then I go back to Chelsea, and my agents will decide where to go. Then the battle begins again.”
